About this plant
Developed from a cross between _Cornus kousa_ and _Cornus florida_, \'Jersey Star\' Venus Dogwood offers the best of both worlds: the exceptional flower display of a Kousa dogwood with improved resistance to common dogwood diseases. In spring, this magnificent tree becomes enveloped in an abundance of spectacular, star-like white bracts that can measure up to 6 inches across, followed by attractive red, berry-like fruits in late summer that are a favorite of birds. Its elegant, layered branching habit provides year-round interest, culminating in a beautiful reddish-purple fall color. Ideal as a specimen tree in lawns, a focal point in mixed borders, or for adding seasonal interest to woodland gardens, 'Jersey Star' is a sophisticated choice for any discerning landscape.
Care & maintenance
Plant in well-drained, acidic soil. Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and a layer of mulch to conserve soil moisture and regulate temperature. Prune only to remove dead or crossing branches in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.
